At international level, politically and legally, both the sovereignty and pursuit of power-based national interest have become increasingly checked by the application of international, regional and national human rights norms and practices.

International human rights instruments like Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination of Women (CEDAW) and Convention on the Rights of Child (CRC). There is a dire need to understand the significant linkages between democracy, development, human rights and fundamental freedoms. Now the emphasis is on practical measures in the implementation of fundamental standards of humanity and finding ways to ensure that all concerned can easily review legislation and work for developing human rights culture.
